The shop
A proper neighbourhood barbershop
We’re a small, independent shop a short walk from Western Road and the seafront. Vintage chairs, festoon bulbs and a record usually spinning — it’s the kind of place you’re happy to sit a while, not just get in and out.
Friendly and inclusive is the whole point: all heights, all hair, all welcome. Kids are welcome, the entrance is step-free, and Otto the shop dachshund is on permanent greeting duty.
The craft

The barbers here take the time to listen, get the shape right and sort the upkeep — so it still looks good two weeks later.
Skin fades and scissor crops, textured tops and classic short back & sides, beard shaping and proper hot-towel cut-throat shaves. Short or long, tidy or a full restyle — bring a photo or just an idea and we’ll talk it through.

My husband has been seeing Dan for his beard trims and shaping for a few months now and he could not be more pleased with the results! Dan really takes the time to listen, and also made some excellent recommendations for beard maintenance. He shaped my husband’s beard for our wedding day and it looked immaculate!! Not only is Tallboys the best-looking barbershop in Brighton & Hove, but the barbers themselves are friendly, personable, and immensely talented. Had such a lovely experience in this barber shop. I came to Brighton for a few days needed a quick trim. Found this place and honestly I’ve been to barber shops all over the world and I own one myself. But this was one of best haircuts I’ve had. I can without hesitation say that Dan Ladd and the Tallboys trio deliver a high end cut “meeting exact requirements” while making you feel like one of the family.. “a rare find” Having tried numerous other barbers in the region, Tallboys remains a standout institution for those searching for a tight cut.
